Abstract
PURPOSE:To reduce the power consumption of a gate control circuit by detecting the turn OFF of a GTO at the gate control circuit side and stopping the supply of OFF gate current. CONSTITUTION:When a GTO1 is turned OFF and a reverse voltage is applied between the gate and the cathode of the GTO1, the rise rate of the OFF gate current becomes small, and the rise rate of the primary current of a pulse transformer 6 becomes small. Accordingly, the voltage of a reactor 12 becomes small, and the cathode voltage of a diode 14 becomes small. Since a zener diode 16 is set at its zener voltage to detect the voltage variation, a transistor 20 becoms ON. Since a flip-flop 21 operates by a signal varying from ''1'' to ''0'', the output of the flip-flop becomes ''0''. Since the cathode voltage of the diode 22 becomes zero, a base current does not flow through a transistor 7, and the transistor 7 is interrupted to stop the OFF gate current of the GTO1.
