Abstract

The battery voltage monitor, for e.g. sonar buoys, has the main battery connected in series with a diode across a resistance bridge input diagonal. One resistor in the bridge is replaced by a diode. A transistor emitter/base junction is connected across the bridge output diagonalM and its collector is connected to the base of a switching transistor. The switching transistor emitter is coupled to a thyristor gate and turns the latter on when the battery voltage drops below a given level. The thyristor is connected in series with a switching device or similar, e.G. a resistor across the main battery. The switching device actuates the stand-by battery when the thyristor is turned on.
