Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain an electrophotographic receptor with high sensitivity and durability by using a novel disazo pigment in a photosensitive layer. CONSTITUTION:It is desirable that a receptor contg. a pigment represented by formula 1 (where A is an aromatic coupler, and each of B1, B2, B3 and B4 is H, alkoxy or halogen) has layers with separated charge carrier generating and transferring functions, and the layers of the receptor is preferably laminated in the order of the electrically conductive layer, the charge generating layer and the charge transferring layer from the viewpoint of physical strength or chargeability. The electrically conductive layer is made of metal such as Al, and on the layer or an adhesive layer formed on the layer the charge generating layer is formed by pulverizing the disazo pigment of formula 1 and applying and drying and drying the fine powder without using a binder or after dispersing in a binder soln. On the charge generating layer the charge transferring layer is formed to obtain the electrophotographic receptor. The charge transferring substance is chloranil, tetracyanoethylene or the like as an electron transferring substance or pyrene, N-ethyl-carbazole or the like as a positive pole transferring substance.
