Abstract

PURPOSE:To contrive to simplify constitution and to form in a small size and to reduce weight of a semiconductor converter by a method wherein reverse conducting thristors are used respectively in two arms of a thristor bridge holding one side terminal on an AC electric power source side in common, and a forced arc-suppressing circuit is connected in parallel to both the reverse conducting thristors thereof. CONSTITUTION:When an AC electric power source 20 and a DC motor 22 are to be connected by the converter 40 consisting of a thyristor bridge, out of the four arms thyristor bridge of the converter 40, reverse conducting thyristors 1, 2 are arranged in the two arms on the same side in relation to the electric power source, and reverse blocking thyristors 3, 4 are arranged in the other two arms. For extinction of arc, a series circuit of a commutation reactor 10 and a commutation capacitor 11 is connected in parallel to the reverse conducting thyristors 1, 2, and moreover an auxiliary thyristor 5 is connected in parallel thereto. A diode 8 for prevention of reverse current of the capacitor 11 is inserted between the reverse conducting thyristors 1, 2 and the LC vibration circuit, and moreover diodes 6, 7 for prevention of short-circuit current are inserted on the DC motor side of the thyristors 1, 2.
