Abstract

PURPOSE:To stabilize the operation of the rolling work, by making the oil feed rate for a high-speed stand on the downstream side smaller than that for a low-speed stand on the upstream side, in practicing a hot lubricated rolling method wherein the lubricant oil is applied to the surface of the rolling rolls. CONSTITUTION:At rolling a material 3 to be rolled with plural rolling stands respectively constituted of a work roll 1 and a backup roll 2, the lubricant oil is fed from a nozzle 8 by opening an on-off valve 9 a prescribed time after the material 3 is bitten by each stand, and the oil feed is stopped by closing the valve 9 a prescribed time before the tail end of the material 3 drops out of the stand concerned. On the other hand, before starting a rolling work, an overall command device 7 presets the roll speed, the thickness and breadth of a material to be rolled, in an oil feed rate controller 12. The oil feed rate controller 12 decides the feed rate of the oil to be supplied, and controls an oil flow rate control valve 11 so as to make the oil feed rate for a down-stream stand smaller than that for an upstream stand; hereby, an instability of the rolling operation apt to cause in downstream stands of the rolling mill is prevented and the rolling work is stably operated.
