PURPOSE:To reduce the heating temperature of a material to be rolled in order to save the fuel consumption of a heating furnace, by suitably controlling the feed rate of the rolling mill oil in practicing a hot rolling work with a hot rolling mill equipped with a rolling-mill-oil feeder. CONSTITUTION:At rolling a material to be rolled with a hot lubricated rolling line 100 provided with plural rolling stands, a setup device 300 computes the roll gap S, the rotational speed N of a work-roll-driving motor, the rolling power and the rolling load of each stand. On the other hand, an arithmetic controller 500 controls the fuel feed rate for a heating furnace 200 on purpose to make a controller 400 of the material heating furnace 200 control the material temperature at the outlet of the heating furnace 200 to an aimed temperature. Hereupon, the oil feed rate and the material temperature at the outlet of the heating furnace 200 are determined so as to satisfy the upper limit of the rolling power and the rolling load of the work roll of each rolling stand and the upper limit of the oil feed rate permissible the rolling work to be practiced; hereby, a hot lubricated rolling work is practiced with an oil feed rate causing the material temperature at the outlet of the heating furnace 200 to be the necessary lowest temperature.
