Abstract

PURPOSE:To efficiently practice a hot charge, and to make a plane shape control and an automatic thickness control practicable, by arranging in parallel a rolling mill for rolling a material of narrow breadth with a light draft percentage, and a rolling mill for rolling a material of wide breadth with a heavy draft percentage. CONSTITUTION:A material to be rolled is extracted at prescribed temperatures from a continuous heating furnace 2, and is subjected to a descaler 4 for removing oxide coats. A material of a narrow breadth smaller than a prescribed breadth is fed to a rolling line 18 wherein the material is subjected to a prescribed rolling work with a light draft percentage by a finishing mill 14, and the material is then straightened by a hot lever 10, and is carried into a cooling bed for cooling. Meanwhile, a material of wide breadth larger than a prescribed breadth is first descaled, and is fed to a rolling line 20 wherein the material receives treatments similar to said ones. By the present method, both of rolling mills become possible to practice a plane shape control and automatic thickness control by a hydraulic screw down system and a motor driven screw down system.
