Abstract

PURPOSE:The rolling mill including a simple apparatus which makes satisfactorily effective the small consumption of the rolling-mill-oil, by installing the oil guide on the side of outer surface of entry of the work roll, so as to make smaller the distance between the work roll and the oil guide, at the position nearer to the metallic strip. CONSTITUTION:At rolling work for the metallic strip S, the lubricant is supplied from the lubricant-supply-header 6 to the gap between the work rolls 1, 2, and the oil guide 3. Since the work rolls 1, 2, are rotating respectively in the direction for pulling the lubricant toward the metallic strip S, the lubricant flows toward the strip S depending on the pull-in action due to the viscous resistance, and is supplied from the gap at the tip of the oil guide 3 into the gap between the upper and lower rolls 1, 2, and the strip S; hereby, the rolling load is reduced. When the flow rate of the lubricant is to be changed, the oil-guide-positioning-piston 8 is actuated so as to move the oil guide 3 forward and backward centering at the support pin 4 on purpose to adjust the gap at the tip of the oil guide 3.
