Abstract

PURPOSE:Not only to decrease the fish tail amount but also to make the vertical roll fit in easily, by working the plate end part to a taper shape so that its width becomes small, and subsequently, by rolling it latitudinally. CONSTITUTION:A taper working machine is installed at the upper stream side of the width rolling mill consisting of one pair of vertical rolls. The tip of the plate 1 prior to latitudinal rolling is compressed to a taper shape since its sides are pressed by being placed between one pair of levers 3, on the way of being carried in the direction indicated with an arrow. One end of the lever 3 makes a pin 4 its supporting point and is rotated by the reciprocating motion of the piston 6 owing to oil pressure in the cylinder 5. In case this working is carried out, the stopper 8 is pressed from both the sides of material by the pressure device such as the cylinder 7, etc. in order to prevent the material from being pushed back in the direction of the upper stream.
