Abstract

PURPOSE:To make the apparatus efficient by employing segmented rolls for the driving side and pressing side rolls respectively and providing parallel link mechanism to the pressing side segment rolls respectively. CONSTITUTION:Upper rolls 2a, 2b are rotatably born to bearings 11. An upper roll frame 10 is born to a bracket 12 by a lever 14 via supporting bracket 10'. The roll surfaces of the upper rolls 2a, 2b and link 13 are parallel. The other end of the lever 14 is connected to the end of the piston rod of the cylinder 15. The roll faces of the upper rolls 2a, 2b are parallelly-moved vertically by the push and pull operations of the cylinder 15, whereby the billet 16 or 17 passing between the lower rolls 1a, 1b is pressed. The pressing cylinders 15, 15 for the upper rolls 2a, 2b are installed on the side of the drawing billet to be kept free from the effect of high heat and lower the height of the apparatus.
