CONSTITUTION:A nonvolatile memory 12 capable of rewriting and a high-speed access plus a nonvolatile memory 10 incapable of rewriting and a high-speed access are provided to a control mechanism 3 which writes in and reads out the document and sketch information. Thus a group of document and sketch information which is used for the retrieving unit is written through dividing into the memories 12 and 10, respectively. The control device 3 adapts a microprogram control method. Thus a microprogram is read out from a loader part 8 in an application mode of power source and then written into a high-speed random access memory 13. A processor 7 executes the microprogram, exchanges the information with a computer 1 through a channel control part 6, and also reads and writes the information to the memories 10 and 12.
