Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain the titled fibers, having a high toughness, softness and elasticity, and useful for industrial materials, etc. by spinning a dope, prepared by mixing and dissolving a cellulosic derivative and an acrylonitrile polymer in a solvent, and exhibiting the flow birefringence, etc., and drawing the resultant fibers under specific conditions.
CONSTITUTION: (A) A cellulosic derivative, e.g. cyanoethyl cellulose, and (B) an acrylonitrile polymer are dissolved in a solvent capable of substantially dissolving them simultaneously, e.g. 67% aqueous solution of nitric acid, to give a composite dope composition. In the process, the dope composition is adjusted to make the composite dope exist in an area 2 exhibiting the flow birefringence or an area 1 exhibiting the optical anisotropy. The resultant dope is then introduced through a space into a coagulating bath to form undrawn fibers, which are then washed and drawn in a wet heat state at a draw ratio of 8W30 times to afford the aimed fibers. The composition exhibits the optical isotropy in an area 3.
