Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve suction efficiency and engine performance in a multi-cylinder internal combustion engine, by dividing its exhaust pipe group into two parts, collecting the two parts at a place of required length into an exhaust pipe further forming this collcted part to a shape having an ejector function. CONSTITUTION:All cylinders are equally divided into two groups, exhaust manifolds 2a, 2b. Two exhaust pipes 3a, 3b are collected into an exhaust pipe 3c at a portion of required length. The inside diameter D of this collective point B is formed larger than an inside diameter (d) of the two exhaust pipes 3a, 3b, and the diameter of the exhaust pipe 3c is expanded at an angle of alpha. In this way, exhaust gas inertia is utilized to prevent exhaust interference and obtain exhaust resistance, and suction efficiency and engine performance can be improved.
