Abstract

PURPOSE: To make the construction compact and raise the supercharging efficiency, by changing fluid into high-pressure gas through a boiler provided at an exhaust gas passage and by driving a turbine of a supercharger by the gas.
CONSTITUTION: The boiler 10 is provided at the exhaust pipe 6 of an internal combustion engine 2. A fluid circulation system consists of the boiler 10, the turbine 12, a condenser 14 and a pump 16. The high-pressure gas produced by the boiler 10 revolves the turbine 12 and is then cooled by the condenser 14. The cooled fluid is returned to the boiler 10 by the pump 16. A compressor 18 coupled to the turbine 12 is driven by the revolution of the turbine 12. Supercharged air produced by the compressor 18 is supplied to the internal combustion engine 2 through an intake pipe 4.
