PROCESS: The compound of formulaIis prepared by reacting the pyridinium compound of formula II (R3 is lower alkyl; X is halogen) with a basic compound such as NaOH, and reacting the resultant dihydroindolidin-2-one of formula III with the vinyl ketone compound of formula IV at about room temperature W100°C.
