Abstract
PURPOSE: A high-molecular-weight novolak-type substituted phenolic resin that has specific structure and gives a composition with high heat resistance and mechanical characteristics by by adding to a curable resin.
CONSTITUTION: (A) A novolak-type substituted phenolic resin made from the phenol component containing a difunctional phenol of the formula (two of R1 are H, the rest are 1W8C alkyl, 6W10C aryl, halogen, hydroxyl) (70W100mol%) and trifunctional phenol (30W0mol%) and an aldehyde of R2-CHO (R2 is H, methyl, halogenated methyl) and (B) a chain extender are arranged alternatively in a linear structure to give the objective resin having a molar A/D ratio of 0.5W lower than 1 and a number-average molecular weight of more than 1,500.
