Abstract
PURPOSE: A curable resin composition that is obtained by adding a specific novolak- type substituted phenolic resin, thus showing remarkably improved thermal and mechanical characteristics such as heat distortion temperature, thermal deformation at high temperature, flexural strength, mechanical strength or dimensional stability.
CONSTITUTION: (A) A curable resin is combined with (B) a substantially linear, high-nolecular, movolak-type substituted phenolic resin, which includes alternately a novolak-type substituted phenolic resin unit mainly containing a difunctional phenol as the phenolic ingredient and a chain extender unit (other than alkylidenes and hydroxyarylene-bisalkylylenes) and has a number-average molecular weight of higher than 1,500, preferably 1,700W15,000, much preferably 2,000W10,000 and (C) an inorganic filler. The novolak-type substituted phenolic resin unit as the component B binds with the terminals of chains and the chain extender unt has 25W200 molecular weight.
