PURPOSE: To obtain a high permeability thin alloy strip which can be easily worked by mechanical punching or other method by adding Hf to a thin Fe-Si- Al alloy strip.
CONSTITUTION: An alloy consisting of, by wt., 4W12% Si, 2W9% Al, 0.01W2% Hf and the balance essentially Fe is melted by heating and solidified by continuous spraying on the surface of a cooling body moving at high speed. Thus, a thin strip is obtd. When the amount of Hf is below the lower limit, the effect is not remarkable, and more than the upper limit of Hf deteriorates the magnetic characteristics considerably.
