Abstract

PURPOSE:To suppress the dissociation of CO2 effectively and to elongate the life of the laser when oxide catalysts which suppress the dissociation of the carbon dioxide are enclosed in the sealed type carbon dioxide gas laser tube, by using perovskite type oxide having oxide catalyst action as an oxidizing catalyst. CONSTITUTION:The sealed type carbon dioxide gas laser tube is constituted by a double tube made of Pylex glass comprising a cooling part 1 and a discharge part 2 which is located in the inside of the cooling part 1. A cooling water inlet port and a cooling water outlet port are provided at the cooling part 1. An opening is provided at one end of the discharge part 2, and a gas injecting and exhusting port 5 is welded thereto. A vacuum valve 6 is attached to the tip of the port 5. Then, two openings are provided at both ends of the discharge tube 2, and electrode parts are welded thereto. Thereafter, a hollow, cylindrically shaped anode electrode 3 and a cathode electrode 4 with the same shape, which are made of Ni, respectively, are contained in the electrode parts. At the same time, the LaCoO3 catalysts 7 which suppress the dissociation of the CO2 gas are enclosed directly in front of said electrodes. LaMnO3, NdMnO3, and the like can be used instead of LaCoO3.
