Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain the laser tube whose laser output is not decreased, and which has long life, in the sealed type carbon dioxide gas laser tube having a cooling part, by mounting a solid state oxide catalyst in a non-cooling part in a discharge region. CONSTITUTION:The laser tube is constituted by a double glass tube having the cooling part 3. Both ends thereof are sealed by optical windows 1 made of ZnSe. An inner discharge part 2 is cooled by tap water flowing in an outer space 2 in the double tube. Electrode containing parts made of glass are welded to both ends of the discharge part 2 through openings. A positive eledtrode 4 comprising a circular cylinder shaped electrode made of stainless steel and a negative electrode 5 with the same shape are enclosed in the containers. Honeycomb shaped, platinum, solid state oxide catalysts 6 are mounted in the container with the central axes being aligned. Thereafter, mixed gas comprising 11% CO2 20% N2, and 69% He is enclosed in the discharge part 2. Operation is performed under the pressure of 30 Torr. In this constitution, the decrease in the laser output even after the operation of continuous 1,000hr is seldom recognized.
