Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the reliability of group welding when a strap is formed by conducting group welding after a process to remove a surface layer by radiating a laser beam or the like on the surface of an ear section of an electrode lattice made of a lead alloy CONSTITUTION:A high energy density beam, e.g., a laser beam 11 radiated from laser oscillating unit 10, is focused into about 0.5-1.0mm. in diameter by a concave mirror 12 on the surface of an ear section 14 of an electrode lattice 13 made of a lead alloy, and the concave mirror 12 is moved in directions of pointing arrows X, X' to conduct a process to remove by evaporation an oxide film on the surface of the ear section 14, then group welding is performed to form a strap. At this time, it is preferable to conduct a removal process within an inactive gas, e.g., argon or nitrogen. As to the material for the electrode lattice 13, a lead alloy containing calcium is particularly favorable, but an alloy containing antimony can be used just as well.
