Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain the weld zone of high strength using the laser ray of low energy, by obliquely irradiating the laser ray from the inside of cylinder on purpose to remove the metallic vapor sticking to the inner face of the cylinder within the reducing atmosphere of high temperature, when other parts are to be welded to the outer surface of the cylinder. CONSTITUTION:The laser ray L is focused and the optical axis L' is about 30 degrees inclined against the axis of the cylinder 1; hereby, the focused laser ray is irradiated from the inside of cylinder 1 to the joint portion 4 with the band 2, and then, the welding is carried out. Hereupon, the metallic vapor 7 is generated from the weld point 6 and sticks to the inner face of cylinder 1 on the opposite side against the weld point 6. The weld product of these cylinder 1 and band 2 is placed in the high temperature reducing atmosphere of the hydrogen furnace, etc., and hereby, the sticking metallic vapor 7 is removed by the diffusion action into the air. According to this method, the mechanically strong weld zone can be obtained, and besides, the welding work can be carried out without polluting the atmosphere and affecting the optical system.
