Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce the internal resistance of a silver (II) oxide battery and to reduce the self discharge ratio by providing a reduced silver layer on the surface of the positive compound which contains highly stabilized silver (II) oxide as the main component and carbon, metallic powder, or alloy powder as conductive material. CONSTITUTION:Positive compound of the silver (II) oxide battery contains Cd and Te, or Cd, Te and one or more elements selected from Pb, Hg, Tl, Ge, Y, Sn, W, La, rare earthe, Zn, Se, and Al, and highly stablized silver (II) oxide as the main coponent. One or more of carbon material, metallic powder, and alloy powder are also contained as conductive material. Then a reduced silver layer is provided entirely or partially on the surface of the positive compound which comprises the main component and conductive material. Thus the silver (II) oxide battery obtained through above mentioned processes exhibits the reduced internal resistance and self discharge ratio.
