Abstract

PURPOSE:To remarkably increase stability of a silver peroxide battery, by having Cd component, Te component and other special elements contained in at least either of silver peroxide or an alkaline electrolyte as selective components. CONSTITUTION:In a silver peroxide battery whose anode is substantially made of silver peroxide, more than 0.03wt% of Cd component, calculated for metal Cd, is added to silver peroxide and/or more than 0.01g/l of the Cd component is added to alkaline electrolyte. Further, at least either of silver peroxide or alkaline electrolyte is made to contain 0.01wt% of Te component, calculated for metal Te, in case of silver peroxide or more than 0.01g/l of the Te component in case of alkaline electrolyte. Moreover, at least one component selected from the group consisting of Y, Sn, W, La, rare earth elements, Zn, Al and Se is added to at least either of silver peroxide or alkaline electrolyte in such amount that more than 0.01wt% of the component, calculated for a metal, is to silver peroxide or more than 0.01g/l of the component is to alkali electrolyte, as a total amount.
