Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain an orientation film where the resistance to humidity for adhesion to a glass substrate is superior, the resistance to rubbing is high, the coloring is difficult on curing, the orientation restricting power is strong, and electrode patterns are not seen through by using a specific polyimide for said orientation film. CONSTITUTION:A polyamide solution produced by the reaction between a diamine, which consists essentially of 2.5-20.0mol% diaminodisiloxane indicated by general formula (R1 is a bivalent hydrocarbon radical. R2 and R3 are univalent hydrocarbon radicals, and m is an integer 1-4) and 97.5-80.0mol% aromatic diamine, and a tetracarboxylic acid dianhydride such as pyromellitic acid dianhydride is coated as an orientation film material on the surfaces opposing to each other of a substrate and is cured at about 200-350 deg.C to form a polyimide film by intramolecular ring closure. This film is subjected to the rubbing treatment with gauze, buffing, or the like.
