Abstract

PURPOSE: To avert the coloring of the orientation film at the glass frit sealing and obtain the liquid crystal display element of superior transparency and contrast by forming the orientation film to be provided on the conductive film on substrates by the use of the specific polyimide-base polymer resin.
CONSTITUTION: The orientation film is formed by using the polyimide-base polymer resin shown by formula (X is SO2, O, CO, CH2, S; Y is residual groups of tetracarboxylic acid anhydride). Namely, aminobiphenyl compound (for example, 4, 4'- aminophenoxy aminobiphenylsulfone) and tetracarboxylic acid dianhydride (for example, 3,3',4,4'-benzophenone tetracarboxylic acid dianhydride) are condensed to synthesize polyamide acide and this is coated on a substrate, after which it is heated for about 1hr at about 250°C to cause ring closure, whereby the orientation layer composed of the above-mentioned resin layer is formed.
