Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve the resistance value and the transmissivity of a transparent electrode, and enable the said electrode to be applied to a large PDP by selecting the materials of glass layers used in forming layers so as to make the said glass layers to be used as an oxidation-proof layer or a reflection-proof layer. CONSTITUTION:A back-side panel is formed by providing a discharge electrode 2 made of Au or Ag on a glass base plate 1, and providing an insulating layer 3 on the electrode 2. A front-side panel is formed by providing discharge electrodes 5 on a glass base plate 4, and providing an insulating layer 6 over the electrodes 5. An emission, which is utilized for display, is developed by charging a pressure reducing gas such as argon into a space 7 formed between the layers 3 and 6 and by making electric discharge to be carried out across the crossing back-side and front-side panels. Here, when a glass paste, which has a refractive index of 1.8 when it is applied and sintered, is provided on an In2O3-SnO2 transparent electrode 5, the transmissivity of the electrode 5 is improved by 5% (from 87% to 92%) due to the decrease of the refractive index.
