Abstract
PURPOSE:To simplify the structure, while to increase the display area and to shorten the interval of cell, by providing an auxiliary discharge electrode and main discharge electrode insulation crossing each other in an unit display cell while coating a fluorescent material between outer electrodes. CONSTITUTION:Inner electrodes 403 insulation crossing each other are arranged on the surface of an insulation substrate 401. Outer electrodes 405 are insulation crossed on the surface of an insulation substrate 404. A dielectric material 406 is coated on the surface of the outer electrode 405 and a protective film 407 is coated on it. A fluorescent material 110 which will emit the light when excited by the ultra-violet ray 111 is coated on the protective film 407 except the portion near the electrode between the outer electrodes 405. The outer electrode 405 will cause the ionization gas in the discharge space 408 to emit the light while the inner electrode 403 will maintain the discharge.
