Abstract
PURPOSE: To reduce the melt sticking property and contact resistance of a powder metallurgical product of the resulting alloy by adding a prescribed amount of Bi to an Ag-Sn alloy or further adding a small amount of an element such as Cu, Zn, Sb or Cd and carrying out internal oxidation.
CONSTITUTION: To an Ag-Sn alloy is added 0.01W5wt% Bi or further added an element which is soluble in Ag and is internally oxidizable, e.g. Cu, Zn, Sb, Cd, Pb, Mg or Mn by an amount smaller than the amout of said Sn. The resulting alloy is internally oxidized, and an electrical contact material is manufactured by a general powder metallurgical method. The obtd. material has weak melt sticking power and low contact resistance.
