Abstract
PURPOSE:To cool gas effectively, by leading cooling gas above a fin coil in the tip part of a fiber and discharging a part of this gas to the tip part of the core and dischargig the rest from the rear end of the fiber through a sprial space formed by the fin coil. CONSTITUTION:A core 1 which leads a laser beam is surrounded by a clad 6 and is further surrounded by a coating 4. The core 1 and the coating 4 are held at the tip part by a holder 2. In this fiber, a metallic fin coil 5 as a cooling means is wound spirally around the core 1 and is fitted to the clad 6. It is desirable that the fin coil 6 is formed with light metals such as Al. A space is provided between the core 1 and the fin coil 5 so that the bending core 1 is not damaged, and this space is adjusted to limit bending of the core 1, thus preventing an excessive bending.
