Abstract

PURPOSE: To make a Cu alloy almost equal to pure copper in electric conductivity and to enhance the heat resistance by adding a very small amount of Y to Cu and carrying out working at a prescribed reduction ratio.
CONSTITUTION: To Cu is added 0.004W0.050wt% Y, and by carrying out working at 10W50% reduction ratio, a precipitation hardening alloy is formed by a work hardening phenomenon, thereby preventing a reduction of the electric conductivity and enhancing the heat resistance. This alloy is almost equal to a conventional Cu-Sn alloy in heat resistance and is comparable to 100%IACS in electric conductivity. Accordingly, this alloy is suitably used as a material for fins of a radiator, etc.
