Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce the manufacturing cost and to improve the heat collecting efficiency of the captioned solar water heater by a method wherein the outer frame and the lower plate of a heat receiving plate of the solar water heater are formed integral with each other by press-molding a single thin metallic plate. CONSTITUTION:The bottom surface of an outer frame 2 and the lower plate 3 of a heat receiving plate 1 of a solar water heater are formed integral with each other by press-molding the single thin metallic plate. The above structure has such advantages that the single thin metallic plate can make itself the bottom surface of the outer frame 2 and the lower plate 3 of the heat receiving plate 1 at the same time and since no gap is formed between the two members, no dew condensation phenomenon takes place between them. In addition, the internal surface of the peripheral wall of the outer frame 2 may be provided with steps 7 so that glass sheets 6 and 8 to be placed over the heat receiving plate can rest on the steps. These glass sheets 6 and 8 may be used selectively in a single layer or both of them may be used simultaneously in double layers according to seasons or places where the solar water heater is installed. Thus, it is possible with the above structure to reduce the manufacturing cost and to improve the efficiency of utilization of solar energy.
