Abstract

PURPOSE:To suppress the generation of NOX in a method in which waste or the like is burned and melted in a high temperature furnace bed formed of carbonaceous combustible matter, by suitably controlling the loading amount of the waste or the like, the feeding of carbonaceous combustible matter and the feeding amount of an oxygen-containing gas. CONSTITUTION:In a cupola type melting furnace 1 is formed the high temperature furnace bed 2 made of carbonaceous combustible matter, and the waste or the partially treated waste and carbonaceous matter are fed in admixture or alternatively from a hopper 3 onto the high temperature furnace bed 2 by alternatively opening dumpers 4a, 4b, so that a loaded layer 5 is formed on the furnace bed 2. In this state, the oxygen-containing gas such as air is fed in a suitable amount into the furnace bed 2 via a lower twyer 6 to burn and melt the loaded layer 5. The melted product is taken out from a takeout channel 7, on the other hand the produced gas is after-burned at the upper part of the furnace with oxygen-containing gas such as air fed from a twyer 8, and thereafter it is discharged into the atmosphere via an exhaust duct 9, a dust removing cyclone 10, etc.
