Abstract

PURPOSE: To maintain electric power consumption required for maintaining constant dust precipitation properly by controlling the electric current or voltage applied to corona electric discharge electrodes in accordance with the flow rate of a gas or the amt. of soot.
CONSTITUTION: The AC electric power supplied from an input terminal part 1 is made to high voltage DC by a rectifier part 3 via a voltage regulating part 2 and is fed to an electrostatic precipitator body 4. The flow rate Q of the gas on the outlet side of a gas flow passage and an amt. R of soot are transmitted from respective detection transmission parts 7, 8 to an arithmetic operating part 6, by the command whereof a voltage control part 5 controls the output voltage of the part 2. The part 6 calculates the electric discharge current required for maintaining prescribed dust collection efficiency to the flow rate Q of the gas and feeds the signal of voltage regulation to the part 5 in order to flow said current. The part 5 regulates the voltage while measuring the current, thereby maintaining the desired current value. When the fluctuations in the amt. R of soot or the concn. of soot are considerable, it is equally well to control both of the amt. R of soot and the flow rate Q of gas as variables.
