Abstract

PURPOSE: To make the easy production of treated water refined to high purity possible by layering mixed beds with upward flowing water then separating the same to three layers, and treating the upper layer after regeneration with an aq. alkali soln. with an aq. ammonia or hydrazine soln.
CONSTITUTION: Mixed beds consisting of a cation exchange resin and an anion exchange resin are layered by upward flowing water, and the upper layer consisting of the anion exchange resin is withdrawn to the outside of the beds through a withdrawal pipe provided in the part upper than the interface of both resin layers. Next, both resins in the part upper than a withdrawal pipe provided in the part lower than the interface are withdrawn through said withdrawal pipe, whereby an intermediate layer is obtained. This intermediate layer is preserved as it is, and at the stage of the next and subsequent formation of the mixed beds, this is charged into the mixed beds to layer the same. The lower layer consisting of the anion exchange resin is regenerted with an aq. acid soln. After the upper layer is regenerated with an aq. alkali soln., it is treated with an ammonia or hydrazine soln. to exchange the cation exchange resin of alkali load type included in the upper layer to ammonia or hydrazine type. Next, both layers are mixed, whereby the mixed beds are regenerated.
