Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain readily a low acid-value material for polyurethane by polymerizing an unsaturated monomer in an unsaturated polyol carrying N-contg. bond prepared from specific unsaturated active-hydrogen compound, polyisocyanate, and unsaturated polyol.
CONSTITUTION: The objective polyol can be obtained by polymerizing a polymerizable monomer (e.g., acrylonitrile, styrene) in an unsaturated polyol carrying N- contg. bond, which is prepared by the reaction either between (A) an unsaturated active-hydrogen compound having two or more active hydrogens and at least one polymerizable unsaturated group (e.g., an unsaturated polyhydric alcohol such as 3-butene-1, 2 diol), (B) a polyisocyanate having two or more isocyanate groups (e.g., tolylene diisocyante), and (C) virtually a saturated polyol with two or more OH groups (e.g., polyoxypropylene triol), or between (i) an unsaturated active-hydrogen compound iniiwhich two or more said active-hydrogens are those of OH groups and (ii) the comonenet (B).
