Abstract

PURPOSE: To prepare a polymer polyol having high dispersion stability, easily and economically, by polymerizing a polymerizable unsaturated monomer in an unsaturated polyol obtained by the reaction of a saturated polyol and an unsaturated monocarboxylic acid (derivative).
CONSTITUTION: The objective polymer polyol is prepared by polymerizing (A) a polymerizable unsaturated monomer (e.g. acrylonitrile, styrene, etc.) in (B) an unsaturated polyol having an average number of hydroxyl group of ≥1.7, pref. ≥2.0 and obtained by the reaction of (a) an essentially saturated polyol having two or more OH groups (pref. polyether polyol) with (b) an unsaturated monocarboxylic acid (or its reactive derivative) having one carboxylic acid group and one or more polymerizable unsaturated groups (e.g. acrylic acid), or a polyol mixture containing said unsaturated polyol. The reaction of said polymer polyol with a polyisocyanate compound affords a polyurethane.
