Abstract

PURPOSE: To inexpensively obtain a polymer polyol having good dispersibility, by polymerizing a monomer in an unsaturated polyol having a plurality of nitrogen- containing linkages and hydroxyl groups or in a polyol mixture containing the unsaturated polyol.
CONSTITUTION: A monomer such as acrylonitrile or styrene is polymerized by use of a radical polymerization catalyst in a nitrogen-containing linkage-containing unsaturated polyol containing at least one polymerizable unsaturated group, at least two hydroxyl groups and at least two nitrogen-containing linkages formed by the reaction between isocyanato groups and active hydrogen-containing groups such as hydroxyl groups, amino groups and carboxyl groups. The resulting polymer polyol is usually an opaque dispersion and is excellent in dispersion stability. This polymer polyol can be reacted as such with a polyisocyanate component to produce a hard urethane foam.
