Abstract

1477333 Grafted polyether polyols; polyurethane foams IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 29 Jan 1975 [11 Feb 1974] 06173/74 Headings C3G and C3R A polymer-modified polyol is produced by polymerizing a monomer mixture consisting of 10 to 80% by weight of methyl methacrylate, 90 to 20% of acrylonitrile and 0 to 10% of a monomer having at least two polymerizable olefinic groups in the presence of a polyether polyol, said monomer mixture being used in an amount of 2 to 80% by weight, based on the combined weight of the monomers and polyether polyol. Examples are given in which an ethylene oxide-tipped oxypropylated glycerol is grafted in bulk which methyl methacrylate and acrylonitrile and the resulting graft polymer, or a mixture thereof with unmodified polyether polyol, is used in the production of a polyurethane foam.
