CONSTITUTION: A strain capable of growing in a solid medium containing D- threonine is collected from a strain obtained by subjecting a bacterium belonging to genus Brevibacterium or Corynebacterium, especially a bacterium capable of producing Coryneform L-glutamic acid to variation treatment through variation introduction. This collected strain is aerobically cultivated in a common medium at a pH of 4W8 at 25W37°C for 1W7 days, and L-threonine is collected from the culture solution by a common method such as ion exchange resin method. The yield based on acetic acid or sugar is high, to improve more the productivity than that by a conventional strain.
