Abstract

PURPOSE: To prepare L-lysine in high yield based on a glucide, by cultivating a microorganism, belonging to the genus Brevibacterium or Corynebacterium, and capable of producing the L-lysine under controlled conditions of the kind and concentration of the raw material glucide.
CONSTITUTION: A microorganism, e.g. Brevibacterium flavum ATCC-21128, belonging to the genus Brevibacterium or Corynebacterium, and having the ability to produce L-lysine is cultivated in a nutrient culture medium in which the concentration of glucose is adjusted to the range of 5W15g/dl. After 5g/dl or more glucose is consumed, sucrose is added to the culture medium to carry out the cultivation. The aimed L-lysine is then collected from the resultant culture.
