Abstract

PURPOSE: To prepare L-glutamic acid, by cultivating a microorganism belonging to the genus Brevibacterium or Corynebacterium.
CONSTITUTION: A variant strain, e.g. Brevibacterium flavum AJ11217 (FERM-P No. 4318) or Corynebacterium glutamicum AJ11218 (FERM-P No. 4319), belonging to the genus Brevibacterium or Corynebacterium, having the resistance to a ketomalonic acid and the ability to produce L-glutamic acid is inoculated into a nutrient culture medium and cultivated under aerobic conditions to collect the L-glutamic acid from the culture fluid.
