PURPOSE: To prepare L-glutamic acid in high yield, by culturing a mutant belonging to Brevibacterium genus, or Corynebacterium genus.
CONSTITUTION: L-glutamic acid-producing mutant belonging to Brevibacterium genus or Corynebacterium genus, and resistant to fluorocitric acid, ketomalonic acid, α-amino-β-hydroxyvalerianic acid, DL-threonine hydroxamic acid, 2-amino-3- phosphopropionic acid or 5-aminolevulinic acid, e.g. Brevibacterium lactofermentum AJ11211 (FERM-P No.4312) (fluorocitric acid resistant strain), is aerobically cultured in a conventional medium for the cultivation of L-glutamic acid-producing bacteria, at 24-37°C and pH6-9, and L-glutamic acid is separated from the medium.
