Abstract
PURPOSE: To collect the aimed substance in a culture medium, by cultivating a variant strain, belonging to the genus Escherichia, and having the resistance to α-methylmethionine, D-arginine, α-methylserine, etc.
CONSTITUTION: A variant strain of a microorganism, belonging to the genus Escherichia, and having the resistance to α-methylmethionine, p-fluorophenyl-alanine, D-arginine, argininehydroxamic acid, S-(2-aminoethyl)-cycteine, α-methylserine, β-2-thienylalanine or sulfaguanidine, e.g. Escherichia coli AJ11531 Escherichia coil AF11538, is cultivated. Among them, a variant whose L-arginine synthetic control gene is inactivated has a high L-arginine producing activity. The variant is cultivated in an ordinary culture medium under ordinary culture conditions, and the L- arginine is collected from the culture fluid by the conventional method.
