Abstract
PURPOSE:To simplify the structure of a temperature detecting part and to faciliate the production and control of an optical temperature detector, by making use of a change of the multi-wave interference depending on the temperature and the multiplex reflection that is produced when the light is made incident to a pair of parallel flat end faces of a temperature detecting element. CONSTITUTION:The light radiated from a light source 11 propagates through an optical fiber 12 and is turned into parallel beams through a lens 13. These parallel beams are made incident vertically or obliquely to a flat end face 14a of a temperature detecting element 14 and delivered from a flat end face 14b of the element 14 after being reflected repetitively between the faces 14a and 14b to be condensed by a lens 15. This condensed beam propagates in an optical fiber 16 and is made incident to a light receiving part 17 to be measured for its light volume. The intensity of the transmitted light caused by the interference of the light wave is decided by the distance between the faces 14a and 14b plus the optical refractive index of the material used for the element 14. As these distance and refractive index are varied by the temperature, the change of temperature is converted into the change of intensity of the transmitted light.
