Abstract

PURPOSE:To decrease the number of parts by forming an optical filter and lens in one body, by forming a dielectric multilayered film at a plane side by working a semicircle lens consisting of a semicircle surface and plane surface and then burying it in a thin-film light transmission line. CONSTITUTION:Light 2 incident to lens 6 from optical fiber 1 placed at its focal point is converted via semicircle surface 14 into a parallel beam only in the plane direction and then caused to strike dielectric multilayered film 9, where while light 15 of specific wavelength only is reflected, the remaining light 16 is transmitted to propagate in thin-film light transmission line 13 again. Light 15, on the other hand, is refracted only in the plane direction by semicircle surface 14 and led into optical fiber 3 placed at the other focal point. Light 16 strikes dielectric multilayered film 10, where while light 17 of specific wavelength only transmitted, the remaining light 18 is reflected to propagate in thin-film light transmission line 13 again. Light 16 enters lens 7 and is refracted by semicircle surface 19 only in the plane direction, so that it will be led into optical fiber placed at the focal point.
