Abstract
PURPOSE:To accelerate the deoxidation, dehydrogeneration and decarburization of molten steel effectively by making the molten steel depth in a vacuum vessel large and providing a gas ejection port between the opening ends of two pieces of immersion tubes in the bottom of the vacuum vessel. CONSTITUTION:Two pieces of immersion tubes 3A, 3B are provided at the bottom end of a vacuum vessel 2 connected to a vacuum pump 1 and gaseous Ar or the like is blown to the midway of the sucking up pipe 3A. Then, molten steel 4 circulates through the sucking up pipe 3A and downflow pipe 3B on account of the principle of an air pump. At this time, a large amt. of an inert gas, for example, gaseous Ar, is blown through a gas ejection port 6 into the molten steel 4 in the vessel 2 located at 500-1,000mm. the depth H of the molten steel 4. Then, the molten steel 4 in the vessel 2 is vigorously stirred by the gaseous Ar bubbles, by which the bubbling of the molten steel 4 is accelerated and the vacuum exposure area thereof is increased considerably. Hence, the decarburization is progressed quickly, and the degassing such as deoxidation and dehydrogenation is accelerated as well.
