Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve the reflux efficiency and degassing efficiency of vacuum degassing treatment by dividing the lower opening end of a vacumm vessel to two paths, of which one is shorter, dipping the vessel deviatedly in a molten steel vessel and blowing inert gas toward the shorter path. CONSTITUTION:The lower opening end of a vacuum vessel 12 is divided by a partition plate 2 and the path 3 on the one side is notched of the outside circumferential edge part so that it is formed shorter than the other path 4. A porous plug P is mounted to the side wall of the partition plate 2 facing the path 3 side and a gas flow line 7 is formed to the porous plug P. This vacuum vessel 12 is dipped in the position deviated from the center in the ladle 10 under the molten steel surface with the path 3 being positioned closer to the center of the ladle 10. Inert gas is then blown from the porous plug P. The rising flow of the molten steel by the gas blow ascends in the shorter path and is exposed to vacuum, after which it goes beyond the back part of the partition plate 2, goes down the inside of the path 4 and is discharged to the deep part near the inside wall of the ladle 10. Thereby, the entire part of the molten steel in the ladle 10 is effectively mixed and evened.
