Abstract
PURPOSE:To blow an inert gas stably into a stationary nozzle in a sliding nozzle by blowing the inert gas into the stationary nozzle through the joined part between a stationary plate and a gas blowing ring. CONSTITUTION:A stationary plate 3' of a sliding nozzle device is partly notched at the lower end of an opening 4' and is fitted with a gas blowing ring 8' consisting of refractories of superior erosion resistance within this notch. A groove 9 of an approximately circular shape is formed along the circumferential direction in the upper or lower corner part of the ring 8'. The inert gas introduced from the outside part of the plate 3' into the groove 9 is blown into an upper stationary nozzle 1 by passing through the groove 9 then through the slight clearance formed in the joined part 10 between the top surface of the ring 8' and the plate 3'. Hence, the possibility of closing of the nozzle 1 by the solidification of the molten steel is eliminated.
