Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent the solidification of molten steel in an upper stationary nozze and to blow an inert gas stably in a nozzle device by blowing the gas into the stationary nozzle through plural pieces of grooves formed radially on the top surface of a gas blowing ring. CONSTITUTION:A stationary plate 3' of a sliding nozzle device is partly notched at the lower end of its opening 4' and is fitted with a gas blowing ring 8' consisting of refractories of superior erosion resistance in this notch. A groove 9 of an approximately circular shape in section is formed in the upper corner part of the ring 8' along its circumferential direction, and plural pieces of grooves 10 of a semicircular shape in section are formed radially on the top surface. An inert gas introduced from the outside part of the plate 3' into the groove 9 is blown into an upper stationary nozzle 1 by passing through the groove 9 then through the grooves 10, thereby preventing the solidification of the molten steel in said nozzle 1.
